Gene Moore

He was a baseball prodigy. At the age of fifteen, Gene Moore was a boy, playing like a man, in a game where men, play like boys.

Headed for baseball stardom with the Brooklyn Dodgers, his destiny was interrupted by
Pearl Harbor.
His life... and
maybe our
national
pastime...
would be
forever altered.

Good luck and best wishes!

Hi! Thought we would send you this picture and wish you both well on your upcoming whirlwind book tour!!!

We've been meaning to write....school started and this week is the Prime Beef Festival (which is the local Monmouth fair) and the parade so things have been very hectic adjusting to the back-to-school schedules!

I finished your book in a day and loved it. No, I'm not just saying that just because I know you. I really enjoyed the book. Baseball has always been a huge part of our family life with Jeff coaching for the past 11 years and me doing the scorebook; so it was an easy read. I do have to admit that I was never very good at history or war stories, except when discussing things with Carter and the books he's read. So, immediately after finishing the book, I even looked some things up (I had no idea what the U-505 was or many other things)! What an amazing story about your dad's life! Truly incredible and his story is inspiring to say the least. It makes me realize even more so why I want to hear the stories of the past!

I couldn't wait until Carter finished the book (which was only a day later!) so I could discuss the book with him! We both have questions for you when you have a chance!

Anyway, I wanted to wish you well and will be thinking about you and reading about all of your tour!

Take care!

Deena

Hi! This is Carter!

I finished your book in just a couple of days! I couldn't even put it down and neither could Mom! Your book had my two favorite subjects in it so it was an awesome book. I can't wait until my literature class has a nonfiction book report due because I already know what my book report will be about. I'm already bragging to my friends about you and your book. Like mom said, I'd like to hear more about your research and how you made it seem like I was right in the action. I'd like to hear about some of your interviews and who you actually talked to and met to write this book.

I can't thank you enough for giving me the book before the release date. It really meant a lot to me!

Have fun on the tour!

Carter
