Gary W. Moore, son of a one-time 15-year-old baseball prodigy, Gene Moore, will sign copies of his book Playing With the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, a World at War and a Field of Broken Dreams (Savas Beatie, $29.95) from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Steve's Sundry, Books and Magazines, 2612 S. Harvard Ave.

The story follows one Depression-era youth and his brush with destiny. Inspired by true events, Playing With the Enemy is a poignant look back at the life of the author's father, who was headed for stardom with the Brooklyn Dodgers when his destiny was interrupted by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

It is a heartwarming story about baseball, WWII, destiny, character, family and what a man does with a second chance.

Moore's nationwide book signing tour is sponsored by Southwest Airlines. Anyone of any age who comes dressed in a baseball uniform will receive a limited edition Playing With the Enemy baseball card, signed by the author.
