'Playing with the Enemy' Preparing for Exciting Fall 2006 Release!

PHOENIX, AZ— Bartholomeaux/Public Relations President, Carole V. Bartholomeaux, announced today that her firm has been retained to handle all public relations for Gary Moore, whose first book, Playing with the Enemy, will be released in September by Savas-Beatie. The book is a poignant look back at the life of Moore’s father, Gene Moore, a 15-year old baseball phenomenon. Headed for baseball stardom with the Brooklyn Dodgers, his destiny was interrupted by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. From Sesser, IL to Tunisia, North Africa; from the capture of the infamous German submarine U-505, to playing baseball with its imprisoned crew, Playing with the Enemy is an exciting story that is baseball tragedy turned real-life triumph. Moore’s literary agent is Tristram C. Coburn. Actor Toby Moore www.tobymoore.com (A Separate Peace, Murder in Greenwich) is pursuing film possibilities with the goal of playing his grandfather, Gene Moore. For more information on the book go to www.playingwiththeenemy.com

“We are very proud to represent Gary Moore and Playing with the Enemy,” Bartholomeaux stated. “Gene Moore was part of the ‘Greatest Generation’; he may have been down but he was not out. This is a story that needs to be told and we already have interest in the book from Hollywood.”

"We are particularly pleased with the acquisition of the rights to publish Gary Moore's Playing with the Enemy, a rich and deeply moving biography of his father Gene's remarkable life. The elder Moore was one of the country's leading catcher prospects in the late 1930s, but his budding career in the Major League was cut short by Pearl Harbor and America's entry into WWII. Gene was playing ball in the Navy when a freak injury delivered by a German prisoner of war effectively ended a career that could have been, but never was. His postwar catharsis was difficult, long in coming, but ultimately successful. Playing with the Enemy is the new millennium's extraordinary riches-to-rags-to-riches saga that will be especially loved by everyone who enjoyed The Rookie or The Natural,” Theodore P. Savas, Managing Director, Savas Beatie LLC, remarked in explaining why his publishing house agreed to work with this first-time author.

Gary W. Moore is a successful entrepreneur and business executive, exciting speaker and sales trainer, musician and author. Gary has been featured in such publications as Entrepreneur Magazine, Selling Power Magazine, and Sales and Marketing Management Magazine. In 1996, Gary was awarded the prestigious Sam Walton Leadership Award. Gary is a graduate of VanderCook College of Music (BMEd 1976). He and his wife, Arlene, have been married for 30 years.
