What a year it has been so far! With all the events that have unfolded in 2008 it is easy to be distracted. Quite frankly, there are so many things swirling in my mind and life, Christmas just "snuck up" on me. I am really looking forward to Christmas, as my family will be together under one roof for the first time since summer. Arlene and I cherish these gatherings as they seem to happen with less regularity than we would like, but when you have your kids in LA and Chicago, we'll take them when we can get them!
There have been many changes this year and the economic state of the country is leaving many unemployed, without insurance and seeing their retirement accounts shrinking. We are all in the same boat and need to remain positive and looking forward. It is not what happens to us that determines the long-term effect on our lives; it is how we respond that makes the difference. We must always respond positively and keep our eyes looking forward. There is nothing we can do about what has happened but we can control the direction of our life moving forward. Trust me, we are all affected and the only choice is to move forward with optimism and strive to be the best we can be. I absolutely believe our best years are head of us and we will all bounce back bigger and better than ever!
My prayer for you is that you will have a joyous holiday season and that you will look forward to 2009 with faith and optimism for your future. I pray that God will richly bless you and your family over this holiday season and beyond.
Merry Christmas,
Gary & Arlene
