Gene Moore

He was a baseball prodigy. At the age of fifteen, Gene Moore was a boy, playing like a man, in a game where men, play like boys.

Headed for baseball stardom with the Brooklyn Dodgers, his destiny was interrupted by
Pearl Harbor.
His life... and
maybe our
national
pastime...
would be
forever altered.

2006 - What an Amazing Year!
by Gary Moore
Sunday, December 31st 2006

I hope this final newsletter of 2006 finds you happy, healthy, prospering and looking forward to an exciting new year for you and your family. Arlene and I certainly are excited about the prospects that 2007 might bring and wish you nothing buy happiness and success.

Playing with the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, a World at War and a Field of Broken Dreams is doing very well. In fact, Playing with the Enemy is enjoying an ever-increasing ground-swell of support and gaining the attention of readers and reviewers worldwide! The Playing with the Enemy movie will move into pre-production in February and is scheduled to begin filming in May. We are looking forward later this year to the release of the paperback edition and hope to have an announcement soon about an audio version of Playing with the Enemy. As you can see, we still have a tremendous amount of work ahead in spreading the word about "the country boy who could hit the ball a country mile," and look forward to the challenge.

Readers are writing or calling to ask, "What's next? What are you working on?" Well, I'd love to take a moment to share this with you and will. But before we get to what's next, let's take a moment to talk about "what's now?" As a first time author trying to create a Bestseller, I still need your help. Can you do the following?

  • Go to www.amazon.com and write a review of Playing with the Enemy! We now have 29 5-Star Reviews on Amazon, but need more. If you would be so kind to stop in and leave a review, I would be so grateful. You can do the same at www.bn.com.
  • If you blog or have a myspace.com account, please mention Playing with the Enemy!
  • If you personally know anyone in the media, please tell them about Playing with the Enemy and encourage them to review or talk about Playing with the Enemy on air or in their publication. I am available 24/7 for an interview.
  • Visit the "Mayor that Roared" page and the "Oprah, Sesser's Calling" page of www.playingwiththeenemy.com. There you will find ways you can help and join in the fun!
  • Please tell others you know and meet in your life about Playing with the Enemy!
  • And remember, a signed 1st edition copy of Playing with the Enemy makes a great gift for any occasion!

Okay, so what am I working on? I have several new books in various stages of development.

I am working on a different kind of book about the final stages of the life of George Washington. Sound like a strange leap from baseball to the Father of Our Country? Maybe not as far as you think, but more to come on this project later.

I am also doing some preliminary work on the possibilities of a book about the life of Frank Boudreau, the baseball scout featured in Playing with the Enemy and a book about a dear friend and mentor, Pastor Luther Watson. Luther truly has an amazing story of his life in World War II and beyond.

We have also "agreed in principal" and are now working out the details with a major motion picture company that will bring me into one of their projects. I can't say more, but as soon as things are finalized, I'll let you know. It goes without saying, 2007 will be a very full year for me and I could not be more enthused.

Let me end this year by thanking you for your continued interest in Playing with the Enemy. Arlene and I are more grateful than we can possibly express. Any book is worthless sitting unread on a shelf, but once it is opened and absorbed it is given life in the minds and hearts of the reader. I am so touched that you have opened your minds and hearts to my dad and the cast of characters in Playing with the Enemy. I pray that the time you spent with Playing with the Enemy has touched you in a special way. Knowing you have taken your precious time to read my work has certainly touched me. Thank you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Gary
