Gene Moore

He was a baseball prodigy. At the age of fifteen, Gene Moore was a boy, playing like a man, in a game where men, play like boys.

Headed for baseball stardom with the Brooklyn Dodgers, his destiny was interrupted by
Pearl Harbor.
His life... and
maybe our
national
pastime...
would be
forever altered.

The Playing with the Enemy National Book Tour Sponsored by Southwest Airlines is off and running!

We began with a pre-tour press conference Thursday morning, announcing that Academy Award winning Producer, Gerald Molen and Whitelight Entertainment, will be producing Playing with the Enemy as a major motion picture! Gerald had produced or co-produced Shindler's List, Jurassic Park, Rain Man, Days of Thunder, Minority Report and many other popular and successful movies. Gerald's partner and Director of Development, David Ranes, was present to make the announcement. David also made the official announcement that Toby Moore (www.tobymoore.com) will star in this film and play his true-life grandfather, Gene Moore. Does it get any better than this? David and Toby coauthored the screenplay and preproduction is tentatively scheduled for spring of 2007. So Playing with the Enemy is "Coming to a theater near you!"

We officially opened the tour at the sensational Pritzker Military Library in Chicago to a standing room only audience. You can see this program by clicking here - Video.

It was then back to the book store at the Museum of Science and Industry on Saturday. We ended our time in Chicago at the Book Stall in Winnetka. The Book Stall is a beautiful old independent book store and our signing was sponsored by Cousins Subs in Libertyville!

Thank you to all of you who enthusiastically came out to support the launch of this tour and this book. I am more grateful than I can express. It was amazing to hear that many book stores sold out their entire stock of Playing with the Enemy before the end of the first day! If your store is sold out, you can purchase a signed first edition copy here.

We are now off from the Windy City of Chicago to the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia! Please check this blog often as we report news from the road and post pictures of events!
