Gene Moore

He was a baseball prodigy. At the age of fifteen, Gene Moore was a boy, playing like a man, in a game where men, play like boys.

Headed for baseball stardom with the Brooklyn Dodgers, his destiny was interrupted by
Pearl Harbor.
His life... and
maybe our
national
pastime...
would be
forever altered.

The Playing with the Enemy National Book Tour!

I am excited! The Playing with the Enemy National Book Tour is only a week away and if you haven’t taken a look at the “Events” page on my website, please do so. Playing with the Enemy is most likely “coming to a town near you!”

For those of you in or near Chicago, there will be a News Conference Thursday, September 14, 9:00 a.m. at the U-505 exhibit, located at the Museum of Science and Industry. It will be short and begin promptly at 9:00. I could tell you more … but then I would have to keep you quiet, because if I didn’t, my outstanding Publicist, Carole Bartholomeaux would kill me! So all I can say is … if you want to know why there is a News Conference … be there! (Pssst … Major Motion Picture Announcement …) Who said that?

Our official launch of the Playing with the Enemy National Book tour, sponsored by Southwest Airlines, is at the Pritzker Military Library at 610 N. Fairbanks Court (2nd floor) in Chicago and you are invited! I am so grateful to the Pritzker team for this privilege. I cannot think of a better place to officially launch this book. This is a free event, but you must R.S.V.P. by calling 312-587-0234. Please come and bring guests! This is a wine and cheese reception beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by a live “podcast” of the interview, discussion, and question and answer session. Val Laolagi, the artist who drew the amazing illustrations in Playing with the Enemy, and Publisher Ted Savas will also be attending. I really hope you can join us. This will be a unique opportunity to get a first edition copy signed, not just by the author, but also the illustrator and publisher! If you cannot join us in person, you can listen live or download for listening later. For details, please visit. www.pritzkermilitarylibrary.org. I hope you will join us in person or via the web.

On Saturday September 16, we will be back at the Museum of Science and Industry for a book signing between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. and our last Chicago area event will take place at The Book Stall at Chestnut Court in Winnetka www.thebookstall.com beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday the 17th. Upon leaving the Chicago area, Philadelphia is the next stop and we end a month later in New York City. We hope to meet you somewhere along the way.

You can now order your signed first edition copy of Playing with the Enemy at our purchase page http://www.playingwiththeenemy.com/purchase.htm. Please do so now, as we have a limited supply and the demand has been higher than expected. You can order now and have your signed first edition copy in the mail very soon!

Again, let me thank you for your continued interest in Playing with the Enemy: A Baseball Prodigy, a World at War and a Field of Broken Dreams.
